I'm curious if any of you ever raced at Nu-Be Raceway outside New Bethlehem, PA ? The track was located on Rt. 861 between New Bethlehem and Rimersburg. The track is still there but in poor shape.
And along the same line, did anyone ever race at Skyline Raceway near New Castle, PA ? That track is completely gone and a horse racing track/gambling casino was supposed to go in.

Never been to Nu-Be but I grew up near Skyline an rode dirtbikes on it after it closed an all threw the Ambrisia strip mines from Mt Jackson to Edinburg. My elementary bus passed Skyline every day.

I also grew up close to Skyline Drag Strip. My parents own the property borderlining the stripmine that the dragstrip was on.We also took our dirtbikes all over the stripmines and our mud buggies up on the drag strip after it was closed. When we (my brothers and me) used to walk up thru the pines at the end of the strip and sneek in for free. I only raced there a couple of times and remember drawing cards to start the ladder, similar to Sunset. I'm hoping that the horse race track goes in soon, cause thats my inheritance!!

Wow, never thought anyone on here raced at either place let alone ever heard of the places. The gas well at Nu-Be must be new since the last time I was past the place. I found Nu-Be by accident one Sunday out riding around. Probably went back 2 more times just to watch.
I was only at Skyline twice. I keep thinking they only gave et's there and no speeds.
Don, funny you should mention Ambrisia name because I think that's what the gambling complex was supposed to be called. I thought I read the development is on the back burner.

I 've never heard of Nu-Be myself but back in the 50's an 60's there were small tracks just about everywhere, lots of em in Ohio. The fellow that was trying to start the Horse track couldn't get financing last I heard, I don't think anyone from the Ambrosia family was involved but I could be wrong, they were very well off from mining 10's of thousand acres of coal from Lawrence county an a Highway construction busness, I doubt the would need financed, I knew some of the grandkids of Carmin an they could prolly build about anything they desired. Too bad they never liked Drag racing !!!!

A friend of mine raced at Skyline. I have a pic of a Skyline timeslip on my other puter that's down. But here's some pics from his old logbook with a mention of Skyline and the early slip.

Old Sunset slips.
